✨ Things You Might Be Wondering ✨

Everything you need to know about Spark & Settle, sessions, bookings and what to expect. 💜

What age are Spark & Settle sessions for?

Spark & Settle sessions are open to children of all ages. Most children who attend are around 5–12 years old, although older children have attended and enjoyed the sessions too. If you feel your child would enjoy and benefit from a session, they are very welcome to book.

Does my child need a diagnosis to attend?

No. Spark & Settle is open to all children, not just SEND children. No diagnosis or additional need is required to attend any of the sessions.

Will my child have to talk or share their feelings?

No. Children are never expected to talk about or share their own feelings or personal experiences if they don’t want to. Spark & Settle sessions are not therapy or counselling; they are educational wellbeing sessions designed to make learning about emotions fun, engaging and pressure-free.

What if my child doesn’t want to take part in an activity?

That’s absolutely fine. Children do not have to take part in any game or activity they don’t want to. They are encouraged to participate in a way that feels comfortable for them and can watch, take a break or join back in when they are ready.

Do parents/carers stay during the session?

Yes. Parents/carers stay for the duration of the session. This also gives you the opportunity to see what we’re learning and the strategies and practical tools your child is exploring, which can help you continue using them at home.

How many children are in a group?

Group sizes vary depending on the session. Small group sessions held at my home have a maximum of 4 children, while larger group sessions held at a local hall have a maximum of 10 children.

Are materials included in the session price?

For face-to-face sessions, everything needed for the session is supplied, including all resources and materials.

For online sessions, any activity sheets and a list of materials needed for the session will be emailed to parents/carers beforehand so everything can be prepared and ready.

Where are face-to-face sessions held?

Spark & Settle face-to-face sessions are held in Brentwood, Essex. Small group sessions take place at my home, while larger group sessions are held at a local hall. Full address details for sessions held at my home are provided to families after booking.

What happens if I need to cancel a session?

Group session bookings are non-refundable.

For 1:1 sessions, at least 48 hours’ notice is required if you need to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable.

Full details can be found in the Spark & Settle Terms & Conditions.

Can photos or videos be taken during sessions?

Photos and videos may be taken during Spark & Settle sessions, but only of children whose parent/carer has given permission. Photo and video consent is optional, and choosing not to give permission will not affect your child’s participation in the session in any way.

How do I book a session?

Group sessions can be booked and paid for directly through the Book Online page.

For 1:1 sessions, please contact me directly before booking. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what you would like your child to explore and learn, so I can tailor their sessions to their individual needs and interests.

Does my child need to sit still and be quiet during sessions?

No. Children are welcome to move around, talk and participate in a way that feels comfortable for them. The only things I ask are that everyone is respectful of others and, when I am explaining something, that the noise level is kept low so everyone can hear.

Who is responsible for my child during a session?

Parents/carers remain responsible for their child at all times during Spark & Settle sessions. Parents/carers are required to stay for the duration of the session and supervise their child throughout.

How do online sessions work?

Online sessions take place live via Zoom. For group sessions, parents/carers will receive any activity sheets needed along with a list of materials to have ready before the session. Children can then join in with the same fun, interactive and hands-on style of learning from home.

Online 1:1 sessions are tailored to the individual child. Beforehand, we can discuss what you would like your child to explore and learn, allowing me to plan activities and learning experiences around them. Any activity sheets and a materials list will be sent before the session.

What happens if my child becomes overwhelmed during a session?

Children are welcome to take a break whenever they need one. There is no pressure to continue with an activity, and they can rejoin when they feel ready.

Can siblings attend the same session?

Yes. Siblings are very welcome to attend sessions together. Each child will need their own booked and paid space, as resources and materials are prepared individually for every child attending.

Can I contact you before booking if I’m unsure whether a session is right for my child?

Absolutely. If you’re unsure whether a particular session would be suitable for your child, you’re very welcome to contact me before booking and we can have a chat.
